I just got word that our salmon has been processed and is en route from Washington to the Bay Area. I should be up and delivering salmon by the end of next week at the latest. I will be looking to activate all the hubs (including the ones beyond the Bay Are) and fulfill them within in the coming weeks. So keep your eyes peeled for communication from your hub or just go ahead and make an order and we'll figure out how to get it to you. I'm really excited to share what we've caught with you this year!
The past season although a really productive one, didn't match the crazy productivity from the year before. That said, we were paid a little bit of a better price - so the season ended up still being productive and, besides, any season where everyone ends up getting home safe and on good terms is a good one.
Global supply and market demand paired with a truly wild product makes for a fairly unpredictable yearly price. The way the smarter fishers put it, "We should be thinking in terms of five years average. If your income is fully dependent on one year's catch, you are probably doing it wrong".
This season we came home safe and sound with a little bit less catch but still got to experience the rawness of the weather and abundance and richness that the sea has to offer. In the end, we still chalk that up in the "win" column.
